Reserve materials in printed format circulate from the library's Circulation service counter to users with J-cards or other JHU-issued IDs. Materials may be used inside or outside the library building. Instructors may designate limited loan periods as follows:
two hour - materials may be borrowed for two hours throughout the library's hours of service. Materials checked out within two hours of the library's closing are due by closing. Recommended for all classes, particularly where enrollment exceeds 20 students and competition for materials is anticipated. Late fee is assessed at $1.00 per hour.
two hour/overnight - materials circulate for two hours throughout the day; at established times in the late evening, they may be checked out for return the next day when the library opens. Appropriate for classes with enrollments of 20 or fewer students. Not recommended for SPSBE, PTAS, and PTE (hereafter referred to collectively as Continuing Education) classes. Late fee is assessed at $1.00 per hour.
24 hour - materials may be checked out throughout the day for return the next day at the same time. The 24 hour loan should not be confused with the overnight loan. Appropriate for classes with enrollments of 15 or fewer students. Should be used with caution for Continuing Education classes. Late fee is assessed at $1.00 per hour.
three day and one week - materials may be checked out throughout the day for return three days or one week later by the library's closing. Appropriate for Continuing Education classes and small graduate seminars. Late fee is assessed at $5.00 per day.
Reserve materials are available for one renewal. Renewals should be made in person at Circulation.
Reserve users may borrow a maximum of two items at one time.
Please note that the library's hours change from weekday to weekend; during holidays and student breaks; and according to the semester.
