Acceptable Personal Materials

Course Readings | Course Notes | Exams
Information For Instructors | Information For Students |Reserves

Instructors may submit the following kinds of personal materials for course reserve access:

  • unpublished homework solutions and lecture notes, available in electronic format from Reserves' web site
  • exams, available in electronic format from Reserves' web site
  • syllabi, available in electronic format from Reserves' web site (syllabi with full citations and assignment dates are helpful, welcome aides for Reserve staff, as well as for students)
  • personal copies of published books not yet held in the Eisenhower Library's collection, available for limited loans from Circulation (supplementing library copies with personal copies is discouraged)
  • photocopies of journal articles generated by Reserve staff and resubmitted for use in a subsequent semester, available for limited loans from Circulation (photocopies not generated by Reserve staff are discouraged)
  • personal copies of commercially-viable videos, DVDs, cd-roms and audio materials, only if not yet held in the Library's collection, available for limited loans from AV (for legal reasons, video/DVD viewings from personal copies should be restricted to one student or a small group of 3-5)

Most access is limited to the current semester, unless instructors request that their materials be retained for the next semester. Exams are made available for the semester, along with homework solutions and lecture notes, or may be posted to Reserves' electronic collection of permanent exams, where they are maintained for a period of five years; please specify your preference at submission.

Unpublished materials may be submitted electronically, on disk or via e-mail attachment.

All personal materials should be submitted by instructors, teaching assistants, or academic department staff; materials will not be accepted from students unless accompanied by written authorization from course instructors. To protect the integrity of exams, all new exam submissions should be accompanied by a copy of the Exam Authorization form (also available from Reserve Services staff).

Due to the wear of regular usage, Reserve staff do not recommend that you reserve valuable personal materials.
